THE PROPOSED FAIRGROUNDS PROJECT HAS BEEN REJECTED!!
In tonight's city council vote on petition 41-25 (ban horse and dog racing for purposes of gambling from anywhere in Leominster, MA) was passed 8-1 by city councilors. Petition 47-25 for the 'Fairgrounds Overlay' (which was a trojan horse to begin with) was denied 9-0 in a smack down by the city council.
For now, residents -- especially Ward 2 and Mechanic street -- can breathe a sigh of relief. Congrats to the residents who mobilized, researched and fought to be heard.
